After building the log cabin alone in the forest for over a year, I now embark the next years challenges. Last year I ventured out, found a suitable spot, chopped down and dragged the necessary trees and shaped them into a four wall log cabin. Here is the video: declips.net/video/BBX5qh09OIE/video.html&ab_channel=ErikGrankvistThis year I built the log structure for the roof, laid the complete roof using birch bark and abandoned clay tiles, laid the floor, built an underground root cellar for food storage and much more.If you want to see what happens next on the build, click this video: declips.net/video/CvaJtxJcfuA/video.htmlI am now 21 and have built this log cabin from the materials found in my own forest in Sweden with only the simple hand tools I could carry in my backpack. Just like our Forefathers did. I had no previous experience in building, gathering materials or even filming. So I started studying the old arts myself and learning from my grandfather and mentor Åke Nilsson. I filmed everything myself using a tripod and edited this video so you can follow my journey and hopefully learn as I do.There is still a lot of work left to actualize my dream. To become self-reliant. For example I want to start a full out garden so I can live out here only reliant on that and the forest. Big goal and a lot of work. So if you are interested in my journey then definitely subscribe. The clothes I am wearing are from Revolution Race, a Swedish brand. These clothes I use on a daily basis while I am working, hunting and so on. I have now partnered up with Revolution Race and received a discount code that you can also use to get 15% off: GRANKVIST15This is their website: bit.ly/Grankvist-RVRCThank you for watching my videos.Remember that nothing is impossible with time.

Not sure why DEclips felt the need to recommend this video to me, a person who can barely build a birdhouse, but I'm very glad it did. Amazing video.
Homer Simpson csn build a better spice rack than me
Hahaha 😂 I am sure you can build a bird house now 👍!
That’s no birdhouse!!!!!!!

This guy’s patience and dedication to his craft is really quite amazing. I wish you every luck and happiness my man.
Healthy young man 👍
I find this approach to videos very interesting. No lengthy intro, no talking, just the universal concept of a guy building a cabin in the middle of nowhere. It’s nice for a change. Love the stuff mate
I agree, no blá blá blá.
@Soraya Geloo I also have a lot questions about the video. But oh well… just as long as the video gains a lot of viewers that's all that matters lol.
Wish he showed how he got those huge logs all the way up there 🤔 pulleys?crane? Help from friends or family? All of the above? Other than that...love the video....very entertaining

I’m speechless - the skills, swimming in ice water, small fancy dog AND amazing videography???? Amazing
i can make a fire
Living life how it should be lived. As self sufficient as possible in tune with nature. A lot of humanity (myself included) have lost many of these abilities. Well done this man. Only skipping through the video for now but will come back & look properly soon.
Thank you for sharing your journey with us
@Stephen Dowling kinda off topic
Life. Life is a journey .
Brave Young Man, you really amazed me and I didn’t get boring to see this long vedio. Your passion, hardwork, dedication and efforts are unparallel. Loved it all throughout. Today, hardily people want to live in deep woods for such a long time without internet and gadgets. And making such a long Cabin all alone, is incredible! Love n best wishes from Bangladesh ❤️❤️❤️
I watched non-stop from start to end... I was glued in awe... Didn't even realize it's a 2-hour video until I read the comments at the end... I dream of living in a place like this with complete peace and pure joy... admiring your work utterly, your skill is amazing, inspiring, fantastic job young man.. Applause! Worker here in Dubai from Philippines...about to retire and do some semblance of your spirit.
@Germán it's not easy at all.. my buddy was a army soldier.. had a kid with a girl from Asia. And that kid is 10 now... Still can step foot here
U wouldn't last a week
@Zachary Drake its not easy to move to US, Zachary. 🤷🏻♂️
@ExTrem Yes but there is no humidity. Unlike other regions of extreme cold Alaska is somewhat unique due to the lack of humidity. For example if you cover a piece of ham with water then put it in -20 degree weather it will easily freeze. Take the same ham and dry it out so there isn’t any water and put it in -20 and it will not freeze the same way as water. Either way you don’t feel the cold in Alaska unless you get your skin wet which can happen easily if snow melts on your skin. I loved it tho lol I think pa at 25 degrees feels colder then Alaska at -20
@Zachary Drake isn't it cold there?
Having born and raised in a tropical Philippines, the knowledge and skills in building a log house is very remote in our place. In this video, I have comprehensively saw the complicated processes of building a log house. And more, the dedication and hardwork of the builder is awesome. Without the aid of modern machines, he built the structure in tradition of his forefathers. My respect to you and thank you for sharing this video. Btw, how's your pet dog. How I wish I could have one. Good luck and please produce more videos like this.
Awesome stuff Erik! Being from northern Minnesota understand what it take to do live and work in the elements. Really enjoy your videos and have a cabin on my list of things to build although will admit will use my generator and other cordless devices. I am fortunate to have the land and resources and no how and your videos inspire me and make me more anxious to start. Thanks
It's not the fact that he can build a log cabin from scratch that makes me feel less than; it's the fact he can do all that and film and edit it perfectly as well.
@Stefan Svensson So, he had help and didn't make it alone. Knew it, proved now. Also he has money from "someone" to be able to do this without working. Noted too.
Absolutely brilliant !!! Loved watching the determination and dedication , hats off to you in every respect
This video is a piece of art in my opinion, and so is your job! I am very pleased to observe the process, and greatful for letting me live it through beside you 🙏💪👍
@Nadya Hope
@Nadya Hope
I can’t believe you built that whole cabin in just over two hours!
@Sean - JSJ Incorporated Firstly, I'm also swedish, and most swedish people speak english quite well, and I don't think this guy is an exception, so saying it might've got lost in translation is a bit cheap. Your points are all valid though, but I meant more about the title than the actual video. + There are lots of people who will only watch some parts of the video, not seeing those parts where he isn't there.
@pigZie Perhaps. I think he meant what I said earlier and it got lost in the translation. He is Swedish after all. He even shows himself trekking back to his car or his grandfather's house (this is on his grandfather's property) using nordic skis. I don't think he's trying to make it look like he's out in the woods all the time. He even brings stuff from home, such as pancake batter and jars of jams and preserves, implying that he's living somewhere else.
@Sean - JSJ Incorporated Well the title isn't building a log cabin liek our forefathers alone. It's 2 year alone, new segment, bulding log cabin like our forefathers. Do you see the difference? The way he says it, implies that he was alone for 2 years, and sometime during those 2 years, he built a log cabin.
@pigZie He wasn't literally cut off from civilization for 2 years. It TOOK him 2 YEARS to build the cabin, which he did ALONE. You're misinterpreting the title.
@Sean - JSJ Incorporated You took an incredibly small part of my point, and he must've brought enough tooth brush for 2 years then
Your self-reliant project is so satisfying to watch and helps a lot to us who are about to do the same. Thank you
It's so realaxing watching your venture and seeing the absolutley beautiful landscape surrounding that amazing cabin. Thanks for sharing
I love to watch off grid building but this is so different. I’m impressed and amazed to see such a talented young man build a log cabin and cook too. It looks like a peaceful place. Oh yeah, love your dog. Great job Erick. 👍
My mom and I watched the entire video, even though we did not plan to watch it entirely seeing that it was 2 hours long but the video hooked us to itself and we couldn't stop but watch it. Seeing you build the house was amazing 🤌🏻
The amount of self discipline and self respect this young man has at his age is remarkable..
@Inspector Count Mortis Winship Klaw Lmao so delusional. Fruit has basically no calories, of course people did not live off of fruit. They lived mostly off of meat. With a tiny bit of fruit mixed in there when they could find it.
@Иван Грозный what kind of people would think using a tree to make a home is harming nature; He took a few trees and replaced them and reused the old shingles; Critical thinking is gone; Propaganda is word try studying what it means where it comes from and how it’s used today.. hint schools, advertising, politicians, marketing and many more all use it for their own gain.. One more hint Edward Bernay’s good luck and learn some history it helps in life
@Lucas Marasinghe
His camera man had a good job. Also sound recording was perfect. He didn't want to show all those power generators, gasoline, cameras, chargers , cables and.... yes 2 years alone. Oh people are so naive. I refused to be stupid.
You need more fiber in your diet.
I want to congratulate you for your dedication and all the ways you used to build.. The intention you wanted to pass on to others (who have a high cultural education) is fantastic, especially to show how your ancestor did to build a home. You are to be congratulated and the pride of your parents and many other people around you must be fascinated by your courage and courage.
Great job, really inspiring - thank you for letting us enjoy from your work.
Incredibly fantastic and beautiful. Well done, what a fascinating film. How you got the momentum to continue and the skills involved is brilliant. I am extremely impressed and totally respect you and your craft. Thank you for showing and sharing.
The cabin will last a lifetime. Good job. I admire your hard work, tenacity, and perservance building the cabin. Your dog is adorable!
I have mad respect for you. I wish more young men were like you. With drive like that you can accomplish anything. You did more than I've seen any other Bushcraft or do in a single video.
Fantastic craftsmanship, can’t believe he built it by himself. Great Job…
This is very relaxing to watch , despite all the hard work, with the sounds of nature and construction blending. Your editing is first rate because I know how overwhelming it can sometimes be. A craftsman in two worlds.
He did AMAZING 😄!! I'M SO PROUD of His ACCOMPLISHMENTS!! SIMPLY AMAZING!!
I hear you - have had this video playing on and off today while doing other stuff and there's something incredibly soothing about it. Which probably helps explain why (despite the enormous physical effort) our inspiring friend Erik did this in the first place.
WOWW YOU DON'T READ MY PROFILE PICTURE 😶😶❌❌
Wow, I can only imagine how satisfying it must be to be able to build such a place and even more to live in it and such beautiful surroundings!!! Heaven on earth!

@Yuli yuli
@Yuli yuli
Did I seriously just watch a 2 hour video on DEclips? Hahahaha I sure did! I loved it too! Great video! Thank You for sharing this with us! Great Job building your log cabin! It’s beautiful! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
If there was a certain category for such films, I would give to this film an Oscar. And to Eric- the best role.
Not only is the sheer skill and dedication of building the cabin extremely impressive but the photography is also very impressive and calming.
The world could use a few more lads like you.
i hope one of my sons decide to go this way. Thanks for sharing this inspiring and a wonderful way to live.
Like all the others, I'm honestly impressed by your work.I just have two questions (probably they have been answered already - this is the first of your videos I watch)1. Is your house far away from civilization (I wonder, where do you get your food -milk, flour, etc - from)2. How often do you go to the next village/your family (to load your electronic devices, get material,...)Thank you very much for answering 🤗🤗
It's really inspiring to follow your journey Erik, thank you for sharing this with us! 😊
He'd make a great husband
Erik makes me not wanna be lazy. Even though I'm more of a tech head (programming) etc it's inspiring 'cause now I just wanna work!
@A N B B that guy is just abusing his verify tag anyway to get likes and subs. every comment verify DEclipsrs make get pushed to the top. then they just post good willing comment to get likes and subs from naive people. sad
@Dudu Lima you sound like you want him for more than just a friend.you think you could handle him
verify tag abuser
Fascinating. Two years alone in the woods? How did you cut all those planks by hand? How did you keep your cameras charged?Where did you get the fuel for lamps? How did you wash your clothes?
Two things for this:1 - He has a lot of tools at his disposal along with experience from others (grandpa and mentor).2 - he said somewhere that he wants to make a garden the future becoming self-sustainable. Although not explicitly told, I think he does go into towns for supplies. He is alone in the woods but he isn't yet completely off the grid. Not trying to belittle you by the way, I thought of this too.
This was so awesome to watch.........stunning workmanship and beautiful cabin.
I cannot explain the level of calm this video brought to my life. 2 Hours of not thinking. Just watching and enjoying. Erik, thank you!
Imagine what that work would do for your soul and life satisfaction
Get out in nature sometimes it'll be even better
How can you watch this whole thing wtf?
@Joanne Marsello لرخغرهل
Me. I was thinking what happened with the fist dog...
holy shit, this guy is literally living my dream, if only i had the know-how and willpower like him
I love how you were out there appreciating nature in all its glory. Much to my surprise, nature was also appreciating you as well! Glad this video was recommended! first it was a beautiful lady cooking a tropical meal in the middle of nowhere, and then this great man who shows us, with dedication and hardwork, you can do anything! It is like DEclips is telling me to stop playing video games and go out and enjoy nature....I guess I better get to it!
OMG what a cute dog! This was such an undertaking, it looks beautiful. What a lot of hard work.
Sensacional, muito inspirador! Esse contato com a natureza é fantástico. Parabéns!
i watched the whole thing and i enjoyed every second of it. great work and dedication.
A lot of us sometimes think 'fuck it, I'm leaving all this and going to live in a forest' and you actually went ahead and did it, and probably are much happier for it. Also the nature shots are amazing.
Lol this is my thought process underage now but I’m going to live off the grid when I’m older for sure.
@Logan Sanders Definitely, that is very true. The only reason we are even still here is because of our will to unite as humanity and face against whatever nature has thrown at us so far. We've overcome all of that. But I am more so talking about the fact that some people would rather prefer this kind of lifestyle, living in solitude and going back to our ancestor's roots and working for basically everything you'll get to eat tonight. It feels very rewarding when all is said and done, especially when there's nobody there to bother you and you get to finally have a well deserved rest at the end of the day.Not many are willing to do that, but there are some.
@yobobab city life isn’t exactly a luxury when most humans on the planet live in at least a small city, with millions living in the largest ones. It’s not really a recent development either, because people have made villages and towns for thousands of years. There’s a reason people live together in such large groups, and it’s because doing literally everything on your own is inferior in basically every way.
What a masterpiece, how relaxing it is.Smart fellow with great skill. Thanks for suggesting such a video 📹 💕
Hello. Wonderful work! I have a question: are there bears and wolves in the forests of Sweden?)) And advice: usually they make a small hole in the basement to draw water or put a pump for pumping water.
Yeah we have Bear, Wolf and Lynx.
13:00 I love how he casually takes his clothes off in subzero temperatures and starts swimming in freezing water like he's at a spa in a hotel
Sensational, loved watching it all, even if it full at full speed! Sensational job,.. must have really loved it. Question: What did you scrub the inside of the cabin walls/ceiling with? and why?
i'm fascinated thinking about the technicalities. -How often did you need to head back and charge or replace camera batteries or get extra supplies? -how many camera batteries do you have and how picky do you need to be about shots to make them last? -how far are you from a town or electricity/stores, etc? -Do you own the land or did you need permits to build? - It must be a pain going back for the camera after each shot. Either way, Your documentation is hugely entertaining and inspiring. Best of luck on the next one.
I came to the comment section to ask these such questions! I'm very curious about the charging of devices, etc.
@Triforcefilms Daddy chill
@Ezequiel AlI assure you, nothing you said here tonight was capable of disturbing my calm. And now your attempts at being reductive to distract from your L are falling flat. Anything else to add?
@Ezequiel Al I'm cool as a cucumber. Thank you very much. And I'm talking about the descriptions and captions of all of his videos. I have indeed watched all. if you gave the rest of his content Even a cursory glance, you'd realize that 'most' of the time... He is indeed by himself. Your one discovery of a singular other person holding a camera doesn't negate the other hundreds of hours of work this guy does alone in the bush. But don't fret, your diploma from buzzkill university is still in the mail
You're a badass. This takes so much skill, dedication, you name it. This generation could learn a lot from you.
Here we are 11pm and am watching someone build a log cabin and I can’t get enough of it 🤣
This is super amazing and all but I just want to say my favorite part was watching the puppy play. Shows us that all puppies are alike, no matter what part of the world they live in.
Sir, you are an incredible craftsman. It was entertaining, enlightening, and inspiring.Well done sir
Incredible how much talent Eric has, now to find a way to find a wife who will enjoy this place as much as you!!!! Should not be hard with all the different things you are capable of doing, finding a wife should be a breeze, then again if you like solitary life , GO FOR IT. thanks for such a great video
one of the best series on youtube keep it up my man
I have a question, if you were doing this alone for 2 years how did you manage to put out dozens of other large build project videos within that two year time frame?
Because it’s not true
Sometime in life, you just gotta go out into the middle of the woods and build a cabin. I'm jealous
Watched this together with my 12 year old son and it was more like a movie experience. The amount of interesting things to see is amazing. Not only your brilliant craftsmanship but also the beautiful nature and wildlife. We would like to thank you for taking us on this journey Erik.
wow, thats good parenting, good to see parents showing thr kids informative and what a life really, otherwise most of the kids watch cringe shows and stuffs.cheers.
Surprised on how much i enjoyed the part of the barge preservation! 😂 Wonderful documentation sir.
Truly unique and very impressive and I love the theory of power versus force that one man can do well done
Amazingly done! Also love the shots with dogs, they are very cute.
Woooww que maravilloso !!! Me encanta ! The house Is amazing
This looks like it took an incredible amount of patience and hard work to finish. Just think of the few devices (like the ladder and the head lamp and the tarp) that our forefathers would not have had. Amazing work.
This is absolutely incredible. There’s something about just being alone and surviving by yourself that I love.
@Fragz . Yes, can't wait for the Sons of the Forest
@Henti Kirby You should try the forest if you haven't already :)
Yeah subnautic scratch that itch for me
Dude at times that mist have been most exhausting logging all those trees. How did you keep your tools so sharp. The end result must have been most satisfying
Det er jo fantastisk… enestående. A new level of ASMR. 😃Wauw.
I can't imagine the hours of work, the pain, patience, tiredness and efforts you put in that timber house. You must have had so many blisters and dreams of wood
i know , cause you can cut strait lines with a axe. got to be kidding me. you can even see the tar paper on the roof. This is t.v. , not real.
@Lisa youre not my mother Lisa! but i wouldnt mind a mommy
@Adrian Flo such bad language. SMH
Did you not watch the video? Hours of work? It only took a little over 2 hours
Amazing job young man, keep going 👏 👏👏👏👏👏👏
