    Hey! I am confused about the temperature thing,because its 40F-48F where i live,so how much time i should ferment? As you say that if not fermented till 3 weeks it will not benefit as much, as i have gut problem so i want to take as a probiotic with ofcourse all the good bacteria.

    The more of this I watch, the more upset I get at knowing that my partners family makes sauerkraut with some cooking process on the stove and it makes their whole house smell horrific. And no probiotics, so..whats even the point?? I swear we'll get a hotel next time we visit solely for that reason.

    If you don’t have an airlock just use a surgical rubber glove and put a pinprick in the tip of one finger. They are very cheap and you don’t need to remember to top them up with water which you have to do with an airlock. Rubber gloves make great air locks and the pressure in the glove ( which looks like a swollen lol) ensures nothing gets back into the pinprick. If you want you can secure the glove with an elastic band around the neck of the jar with the fingers pointing upwards, obviously.

    yo! love the vids,
    I've just made my first batch of Kraut. has been sitting in the cupboard for about 1.5 weeks now, and I've noticed that the liquid level has dropped bellow the line of the cabbage. no bad mould has formed on top, and nothing seems out of sorts. Not sure how long it hasn't been covered for, but if it all looks ok, will my Kraut still be fine?
