You are an artsy idiot. Architects education are amalgamation of art, history & english absent depth. I am an architect grad and regret my decision as a person who respect STEM.

Interesting how servants and lords always shifted position in the house.
In Korčula they had kitchens under the roof because it's the hottest room in the house and because the heat goes up and the cool stays down, their house was not stuffy during summer.
I used to work on some project about sustainable construction. I've learnt so much about why houses were built the way they were. Everything has its meaning.
In my country houses made in 70s are a nightmare to reconstruct them to nowadays standards, because people were building them without plan and with a help of neighbours and family, without real construction workers, who would know what they are doing. You really have to love the house and it has to be in a really good condition, so that is worth to put money into it.

I remember reading somewhere that wealthy used to live on the first floor prior to elevators being invented because they'd make the poorer people or the servants walk up all those flights of stairs every day. After the elevator was invented, the wealthy wanted to live up top for the reasons he listed.

It's the first video that I see from you guys (cause I saw Billions in the thumbnail lol) and even though I know nothing about architecture, I enjoyed listening to this guy so much and learnt a bunch of new things in 17 minutes! I can see why people in the comments were glad to see him back. Thank you!

I want to say something he kind of missed. It wasn't really the poor people that made the penthouses desirable. The reason that rich people didnt want to live in the pent house was because elevators didn't exist and having to walk up the stairs was a bad thing. Penthouses became popular when they invented the elevator.
