Honestly, I love the C.S. Lewis line, but I honk it would've been so much cooler if C.S. Lewis would've shown up as back up. Not that Tolkien needed it, but it would have escalated this video from spectacular to legendary.

Ramble on, The Battle of Evermore, Misty Mountain Hop all include references, direct or indirect to Tolkien's work, some songs even have the lines "The ringwraiths ride in black" and "Gollum, the evil one" "T’was in the darkest depth of Mordor"
Plant was the biggest fan of Tolkien for sure, he named his own dog "Strider". Not sure about the other members, but Plants affinity for it influenced a lot of their work, including stairway to heaven.

I love both but with prose like:

    “His hopeless challenge dauntless cried
    Fingolfin there: 'Come, open wide,
dark king, your ghastly brazen doors!
Come forth, whom earth and heaven abhors!
Come forth, O monstrous craven lord,
and fight with thine own hand and sword,
thou wielder of hosts of banded thralls,
thou tyrant leaguered with strong walls,
thou foe of Gods and elvish race!
I wait thee here. Come! Show thy face!”

    Martin has no chance.

    • Gurls Talents
Gurls Talents Vor 5 Tage +3

      or this,

“And far away, as Frodo put on the Ring and claimed it for his own, even in Sammath Naur the very heart of his realm, the Power in Barad-dûr was shaken, and the Tower trembled from its foundations to its proud and bitter crown. The Dark Lord was suddenly aware of him, and his Eye piercing all shadows looked across the plain to the door that he had made; and the magnitude of his own folly was revealed to him in a blinding flash, and all the devices of his enemies were at last laid bare. Then his wrath blazed in consuming flame, but his fear rose like a vast black smoke to choke him. For he knew his deadly peril and the thread upon which his doom now hung.

From all his policies and webs of fear and treachery, from all his stratagems and wars his mind shook free; and throughout his realm a tremor ran, his slaves quailed, and his armies halted, and his captains suddenly steerless, bereft of will, wavered and despaired. For they were forgotten. The whole mind and purpose of the Power that wielded them was now bent with overwhelming force upon the Mountain. At his summons, wheeling with a rending cry, in a last desperate race there flew, faster than the winds, the Nazgûl, the Ringwraiths, and with a storm of wings they hurtled southwards to Mount Doom.”

    • Gurls Talents
Gurls Talents Vor 5 Tage +3

      or this,

“Blessed are the legend-makers with their rhyme
of things not found within recorded time.
It is not they that have forgot the Night,
or bid us flee to organized delight,
      in lotus-isles of economic bliss
forswearing souls to gain a Circe-kiss
      (and counterfeit at that, machine-produced,
      bogus seduction of the twice-seduced).
Such isles they saw afar, and ones more fair,
and those that hear them yet may yet beware.
They have seen Death and ultimate defeat,
and yet they would not in despair retreat,
but oft to victory have tuned the lyre
and kindled hearts with legendary fire,
      illuminating Now and dark Hath-been
with light of suns as yet by no man seen.”

-J.R.R. Tolkien, “Mythopoeia,” in Tree and Leaf (London: Unwin Hyman, 2nd Ed. 1988), 100.

The best thing George R.R. Martin did in his pathetic life was die.I don't think that the incest in his books were fictional.I honestly hope his fat, child molester looking ass is rotting in hell, and the devil shoving every copy of that fucking SHIT he called a novel,up his fatass. And if weren't for Tolkien, his bitchass wouldn't have that genre to write in.Tolkien practically invented the fantasy genre. What genre did George invent? That's right, nothing!Just like Seinfeld was a show about nothing,Gays on Thrones is a show, based off a book, that's about absolutely nothing. The only thing that it's good for, is that you can wipe your ass with it.

“You can’t reach this fellow” is the fellowship of the ring
“Shit I’m too towering” is the two towers
And most obvious is “every time I battle It’s returns of the king” which is well return of the king
