Solo Off Grid Timbering Log Cabin only Hand Tools | 7.0 | - One Man Traditional Log Cabin series

  • Am 21 Nov 2019 veröffentlicht
  • I just graduated from high school and want a big challenge in life. I decided that I alone with only hand tools and raw power was going to build my own off grid traditional log cabin by hand in the Swedish forest.
In this episode I am building the walls of the log cabin. I am showing you how it can be done using only simple hand tools.

Well done Erik, the cabin is coming on nicely, you are an inspiration to all especially to the youth of today which they seem to lack what you have. I am very proud of you and congratulate you for doing what you are.

As I watch this series, one of the things I'm struck by is the conservation of energy/movement displayed; your patience is evident in every motion and movement. Very little brute force is used, letting the tools do the work. I appreciate the very methodical approach to quality workmanship!

Erik, your videos are compelling and so calming to watch - beautifully produced. Proud to see a younger lad get back to basics, well done. Thank you!

The peaceful quiet work of a young man of great patience, skill, and inner fortitude.

Building a Scandinavian scribe fit log home is a true labor of love. I know because I helped a friend of mine build three separate homes in as many years using 16”-18” logs in Washington State when I was in my early twenties. I am now sixty five. Congratulations Erik, you’re doing a fine job!!!

Hi Erik! I've recently stumbled upon your channel. I'm completely caught up on all your episodes... And I have to say that's it's really nice to see a person of your generation doing what you're doing! It may all be the hard way of doing things, but there's more appreciation that comes with it!

Wow, I spent my early years as a carpenter and woodworker and also bushwhacking etc. This young man is so clever. I'm very impressed. What's doing scribing and his layout work is so good.

Erik... what an inspirational young man you really are ! so young and have what it takes to fend for yourself and will always have the abilities to provide for a possible family should you want one. The average youth of today don't seem to have 1% of your get-up-n-go ! i honestly look forward to following you along your journey with the hope of seeing your end creation , life is for living and all about choices and your choices are outstanding ! all the best from the U K .

Love your hard labour Erik! Especially the use of the Gransfors axes! It's very rare to see someone your age using "the old crafts" and you do it so well! It takes time but you're very patient and precise. I'm sure it's gonna be a great cabin. On a side-note: consider using an A-frame for hauling the long stems. Saves your back!

There are loads of people that would be happy to team up with you to make an entire village like this so maybe in the future you could do that

Such an old Master Craftsman at such a young age! That's going to be one fine home when you're done. Really appreciate you taking the time to share and pass on your skills.

Great work Erik, will be interesting to see how you solve the difficulties of working up high with logs like these. It’s something that must be a big challenge for anyone working alone like this. Getting some help with that is always and option though.

Very interesting how you work; very slow and calm. This is the best way to build a great work of art. My first log house build, I worked too hard, fast. I was so exhausted!
