      My Mum starts kvass with a piece of sourdough bread. Drinking beet kvass help when ypu have iron deficiency. You can use it as an ingredient of bortsch - beet soup. BTW maybe you could make a bread kvass, it's a great refreshing drink 🙂

    This comment is probably here somewhere already, but in his chalkboard recipe he says 2.5lbs Beets, and then the 2T of salt is supposed to be for all 2.5 lbs. Did he end up putting 2T of salt into 1.25lbs of beets?

    I've never seen beet kvass! I've only had rye kvass. Had it in Lithuania and Estonia this summer. Very heavy caraway flavor in Lithuania, not particularly prevalent in Estonia! This was really cool!

    Its my first time hearing about beet kvas, although as a Russian I grew up with this thing. Usually it's done from rye bread but this version looks interesting. What you could also do with kvass is to use it as a soup base in summer, it's really refreshing. Just cut some basic cucumber radish greens (may be some ham in) salad. Add kvass as a "broth"(cold of course) and leave for a little bit. It's mega yum!))
    Also the way he says "kavass" is adorable! Love this show)))
