I knew little about UFC, I used to think it would all end with one pretend to break other one's arm or leg and accept surrender. But this time 2 women just stand there punch each other bloody hell to the end, that's out of my mind, too STRONK.

Comparing a ring with an octagon??? The angles are 135 vs 90 degrees. Theres no posible comparison. Of course its easier to run in an octagon. Go back to school hardy!!!

At the 15:25 mark is where JOANNA J versus WEILI ZHANG fight discussion starts. JOANNA J needs to figure out a way to protect her face. JOANNA J has lost two UFC championship fights where she OUTSTRIKES HER OPPONENT because her face looks worse than her opponent. Those two losses were the second fight with THUG ROSE and now the fight against WEILI. JJ'S face just swells too much with strikes. Can anything be done to help her in that area?

Zhang v Joanna such an exceptional fight! Cant say enough about how amazing I thought it was. I think only Rose might be on that level in terms of striking at least in that division (despite her last loss)

As a MMA fan. I expected more out of Adesanya. He was all talk and did nothing. Yoel should had charged in the last two rounds if he wanted to win.

IDK, I feel like far to many people give credit because of the hematoma...That was just 1 punch and it doesn't have to do with power as much as shiii t bad luck.
Zhang could land the same exact power in the same area and the chance of causing a hematoma is almost nill.
Just happens sometimes...but that one punch certainly shouldn't have impact beyond a single punch that caused damage.
The rest of the swelling was blood filling.
of all the rounds 4 were close and the one that wasn't, it was Joanna in the third who was really putting it on her.
Hitting harder matters...but Joanna simply would come back for more..so how much did it really matter??
It was a great fight and close...I still feel they raised the wrong persons hand.

Casuals: "Joanna won, damage doesn't matter, landed strikes do."
*Sees Izzy landed more than Yoel*
Same casuals: "It's obviously about the quality of strikes not the quantity landed." SMH these casuals are killing me after every Fight Night and PPV. Probably listen to Steven A. Smith's comments like they're gospel. Learn who the RESPECTED voices are and listen to them. Hardy, White, Rogan, Sonnen, Atlas, Big John, etc.

“In the next six months he’ll be defending his belt which most people can’t do after fighting Romero.” ~ Dan Hardy.
Literally, everyone can defend their belts because Yoel has lost every title fight. Love Hardy as an analysis but I don’t understand why he’d say that.

    • jeff zikan
      jeff zikan Vor 17 Tage

@Dean Pyke Dan was referring to Whittaker in that instance, meaning he took a lot of hits from Yoel & was a changed fighter afterwards.l hope Bobby gets back to where he once was.He wasn't scared to fight not like chicken little who just wants to hang on to that belt & make as much money as possible.

It's easy to say that Yoel was insane to not do more to win. But at the same time - he won the first 2 rounds. He knew his tactic was successful and he only needed to land a few more big counters and he could've won the fight.
Many fans even argue he should've won the 5th.

Not saying I wasn't disappointed in his performance. But I can imagine how his thought process went.

And yet...Izzy didn't impress anyone or cement his legacy with this fight. Sure Yoel blew an opportunity, but Izzy wanted this fight. And...it's not like Romero was running. He was right there waiting.

  • OptimusD
    OptimusD Vor 19 Tage

The difference was Whittaker and Costa came to fight Romero, so did Izzy until he got smacked in the first. Romero did pull the trigger but wasn't going to exhaust himself chasing Izzy round the cage just to run onto his counters but when he did do Izzy just ran. This was a fight with Romero pacing himself and Izzy being too terrified getting KO'ed with 1 shot that he leg kicked and then kept his distance. So much for all the talk about stopping Romero, when ever he did get the chance to engage him he ran instead.

Joanna took too much punishment. Her trainer should have thrown in the towel. She said she was in & out. Head trauma, hematomas are very dangerous. The effects don't show up right away. The big problem about the Costa vs Adesanya fight is : Everybody is talking about how exciting it will be, just like with Adesanya vs Romero, creating a big expectation but the reality is different. We gotta remember that Costa's cardio is not that great either, so I don't know if he will choose to go all out in the first 3 rounds, knowing that he will def. lose the 4th and the 5th if he does, and after the Jones fights, where he lost the first 3 probably, and still got away with the win for the last round mostly, we know that if the Champ is really impressive in the 5th, he will probably win. That's a real problem. Costa can knock him out, can beat him in a long fight, but it's not that likely... we may just get another chessmatch after a couple of good rounds, and if the Champ does better in the last round (I think he will), he gets away with a debatable win again.

It’s not that complicated he thought he was winning and frankly so did a lot of people, including myself and the crowd. Apart from R1 he hit him with the only meaningful shots in R2 (including arguably knocking him down before flurrying on the fence) and he went after him in R5. Izzy was amazing against Rob but I think a lot of people are on his nuts here
