I agree with the remarks on education, but I think there's one thing that's worth mentioning. I find it haphazard to toss money at college, when our elementary and secondary school systems need work/funding. How do we expect to build a solid roof (college) on our house when our walls (secondary) and foundation (elementary) aren't good? Along those lines, why not push secondary schooling to include more basic life skills? For example, how many high school kids do you think can handle a question like "If you buy a PlayStation for $300 on a credit card with a 24.99% APR and make the minimum monthly payment of $35, how much will that PlayStation cost you in the end?" Honestly, I would be surprised if more than 25% of students knew the answer.

Kinda like tRump U. Oh, college is not for just getting a job. It’s about teaching the student how to think critically so the general population is not so freaking dumb. You can be in the trades and still go to college. Not to get a degree. But, to take classes you’re interested in. Surprising how college educated leaders feel college isn’t for everyone, isn’t it?! “Keep em’ just smart enough to run the machines and do the work I don’t want to do.” Seems like a short sighted way of looking at the world. I’m pretty sure he went to college.

Overly simplistic. Has toilet paper gotten 2.5 times better? No. There’s this thing called inflation. I’m sure there is profligate spending on administrators (and their spending habits, going to conferences First Class and staying in 5 star hotels). But that’s not the majority of the problem. Which is: useless degrees.
I also laugh that it’s ok for a far left Democrat to espouse getting money into people’s hands to spur on the economy. When a conservative does it he’s a fat cat.
And there’s no burden on the overall economy - quarter after quarter of 3+% GDP growth and historically low unemployment. The only burden is on people who got useless degrees.

Another factor to take in is that because we have a lack of these technical trades the people who have these jobs usually have to travel ALL THE TIME. I really like Andrew Yang's idea about alternatives to making money. Getting kids to think that college is only thing that can happen if they want to be successful is where I think our Educational system is failing. I think that if we can educate them on reading and doing basic math most can do a trade or vocational study and make more than enough money to take care of themselves and a family.

Not everyone wants to go to college. Training in the trades should be free, too. I wouldn’t worry about “cost structures.” People should have choices and will decide their best path. Not everyone wants to start a business either. College has been restricted from a vast part of the society, so why would he want to dissuade folks who newly gain the opportunity to study free of charge and debt? His ideas are good but his overall vision is not. Besides, if he doesn’t get the nomination will he still want to serve the people or go back to running businesses? Not that there’s anything wrong with it.

What education needs is to make citizens productive, literate, and analytical. The problem with education is the students these days. All of them are on their phones during class, complain about every assignment they have to do and not investing the time required outside of school in education. Some of the people that go to college these days are still vastly uneducated and the colleges don't care because they're getting money from them. The best thing we can do for education is making teaching something that is a desirable profession with a desirable salary so that it's competitive to get those jobs. This will make teaching a tough job to get and keep which in turn will increase the quality of the labor pool drastically. Then we need to have a mastery framework for students to learn in so that they can learn at the pace they personally require, unlike the current system where you have a whole grade level moving continuously at the same rate.
